Hubris is a GOLEM upgrade.png GOLEM Upgrade that decreases the cost of swapping before death.

Effects

  • Swapping before death now only costs half of normal, meaning a quarter of the local bar or 10% of the global bar.
    • Swapping after death will still cost the normal amount, three-quarters of the local bar or 30% of the global bar.
  • When you swap into an enemy, if its health is over 25% HP, it will be drained to 25% HP.

Tips

  • This upgrade makes it much easier to gain the CLOSE CALL and QUICKDRAW bonuses because your previous host is guaranteed to have under 25% of its health remaining, making it likely that it will be killed and easy for you to kill it yourself.
  • Because of the health decrease and the fact that post-mortem swaps are now 3 times as expensive as pre-mortem swaps, it is highly recommended to swap proactively to keep your resources up.
    • The health drain makes this upgrade unsuitable for beginners, but in experienced hands it can be extremely effective, as you will gain the energy required for one swap in 3 kills, or 2 kills if one of them is a TRICKSHOT, CLOSE CALL, or QUICKDRAW.

Trivia

  • Hubris is unlocked after beating the Level1boss icon.png CPU 7 times.
  • Hubris and Fear.png Fear are the only GOLEM upgrades that are mutually exclusive.
    • If you somehow get both upgrades, the new host's health will always be set to 25%, whether its health is higher or lower than that threshold.
