The M.I.T.E. (Minimal Improvised Transmission Exoskeleton) is a special bot that the GOLEM agent creates as a fail-safe in case it is unable to swap.
Mechanics
Ejection Process
- Creating a Mite consumes 2 swaps worth of Swap Energy, draining first (if possible) from the Local Bar, then draining the remainder (if any) from the Global Bar.
- The Mite will be automatically ejected approximately 2 seconds after death if the player does not swap first, but it can be manually ejected by pressing R.
- The Mite will also be ejected around 10 seconds after swapping into the CPU if the player does not swap out first.
Moveset
- LUNGE: The Mite jumps forward and, if it comes into contact with an enemy, will possess that enemy at no extra swap cost.
- The Lunge will bypass enemy Swap Inhibitors and will climb the CPU's pillars, but will not break through the CPU's Swap Inhibitor.
Taking Damage
The Mite effectively has 1 health, but your Global Bar acts as a shield against danger. There are two ways that your Global Bar will be depleted:
- While in combat, your Global Bar will deplete at a rate of 1 swap every 10 seconds.
- Your Local Bar will regenerate while in combat, but will be ignored by the energy decay.
- Taking damage will deplete your bar by 0.01 swaps times the damage taken, therefore taking 100 damage will cause you to lose 20% of your Global Bar, equivalent to one swap.
Tips
- The Mite's ability to break through Swap Inhibitors can be useful against the Elite Steeltoe in Ambush, provided that you have enough Swap Energy to create the Mite.
- The Mite can be ejected without using Global Energy if you are using the Mania upgrade and you have a full swap bar.
- The Mite can not be ejected if you do not have any Global Energy.
- The Lunge can be used to move relatively quickly across a room to find a host with strategic benefits.
Trivia
- The Mite has 5 differently-colored sprites for the different bots.
- If the "Infinite Energy" cheat is enabled, you can swap out of the Mite using the normal swap key.
- A non-possessed Mite has no enemy AI, and will die in one hit from any attack. It can also be swapped into like any other host.
- Even if the player has the Myopia upgrade, the Mite can pick up upgrade sticks and will be able to get upgrades for every bot.
- The Mite is also referred to in the code as "spider" or "Golem Spider".
