RAM utilizes a style score system similar to Ultrakill and Devil May Cry known as Fitness, used as a currency for the Shop and as a requirement to utilize Upgrades.

The only way to increase your Fitness is through perpetuation of ultraviolence.

Going through stages normally will generally provide enough score to pay for dropped upgrade sticks (500 points per upgrade), but paying attention to Variety and Trickshots will result in bonus points to use at the shop.

Variety

Variety is a multiplier applies to every point as the final step before it's added to your total, referring to the player's consistent ability to swap into different bots than inhabited previously. As it appears, the game tracks the 4 recent swaps, with your current swap being the latest. Variety only stays fresh for a short amount of time before it starts to decay back down to a standard 1x multiplier. Swapping is the only way to directly increase your variety by swapping to unique bots, with an explanation below:

An example of a way to shift from a 1.4x variety to 1.2x

There are currently 4 primary* score multipliers:

  • 0.8x: Repeat, gained by not swapping into a unique host.
  • 1x: Unlabeled, gained on spawn, via variety decay, or having only 1 unique host behind you.
  • 1.2x: Variety Multiplier gained from a swap unique to the 2 hosts behind you.
  • 1.4x: Variety Multiplier gained from a swap unique to the 3 hosts behind you.

*The Habit upgrade enforces an exclusive -2.0x Habit multiplier under certain circumstances.

Trickshots

Trickshots are a gameplay mechanic to enhance fitness gained on kill by fulfilling specific requirements. Proper utilization and implementation of trickshots into your playstyle will increase the amount of Fitness one can spend on extra upgrades at the Shop. There are currently 21 trickshots with their own multipliers and conditions:

Tips

  • GRAND SLAM
    • Understanding what GRAND SLAM actually is can be difficult due to the intentionally arbitrary nature of the trickshot, moreso than any other in the game at this point. Here's a helpful list of the exact things that need to take place for this to occur.
      • First: Get launched or launch an enemy via Deadlift's charge attack. The most consistent way for a GRAND SLAM setup to begin is, generally, by the player grappling an enemy, launching them with 0 juggles and doing this with as little charge as possible to conserve their health pool.
      • Second: Get launched or launch that same enemy a second time. The former is much rarer, so it will generally be you hitting the second charge attack in the small window you have where the launched bot still has the live ammo property.
      • Finally: Kill an enemy as that launched bot. The bot is probably going incredibly fast now, so the timing here is now incredibly tight. But if done correctly, you can swap into the double launched bot and get a kill, thus recieving the 10x GRAND SLAM multiplier. This can be trickshotted, so if you, say, instantly overheat yourself as Aphid for a Pansear or swap in and out of a SPO Router, you can guarantee the trickshot through contact damage, which is the most likely way you would do this.

Trivia

  • Removed Trickshots:
    • BONK! (1.25x | N/A) - Kill an enemy with a direct hit from a Router's grenade.
    • LIVE AMMO (1.5x | N/A) Kill an enemy by launching an enemy into it.
    • POST-MORTEM (4.0x | 2.0x) - Kill an enemy with a host after swapping out of the host AND after the host dies.
  • BUTTERFLY is a reference to The Butterfly Effect, a concept where one action has further cascading consequences.
  • "Fitness" is a reference to the concept of evolutionary fitness, implying that the scoring system and other self-imposed limitations of the GOLEM Agent are meant to refine its tactics and viability. (lore subject to change)
