Elites

The strongest elite currently in the game, the giant Steeltoe in Ambush. Possesses a Swap Inhibitor and the Induction Barrel and Stacked Shells upgrades, rewarding a total of 480 points on kill(with no variety multiplier).

RAM features special enemies known as Elites that have one or more special effects, making them stronger and requiring extra thought to take down or work around. There are currently two possible effects for elites: Swap Inhibitors and Upgrades. Killing an enemy with any of these effects will grant extra Fitness points. These effects stack with each other, such that stronger elites will grant more bonus points when defeated.

Swap Inhibitors

A Swap Inhibitor is a simple shield around a target that prevents the player from swapping into the bot with the shield. Damaging it will break the shield and allow you to swap into or kill the bot.

Swap Inhibitors can have a range of health values, with some being destroyed quickly, and some, like the one belonging to the Ambush Elite, taking great effort to destroy.

Note: The Colossal Pounding Unit has a unique Swap Inhibitor that is weakened by interrupting its attacks, not by taking damage.

Upgrades

Enemy Elites can be spawned with one or more upgrades, with their skin being determined by the upgrade. In the case that an Elite is spawned with multiple upgrades, the skin closer to the top of the table will take priority. These Elites will retain their upgrade when swapped into(usually stacking its effect with upgrades already possessed).

Notes:

  • Elites with stackable upgrades such as Aerated Fuel Tanks or Careful Packing will add 1 to the player’s count for that upgrade, even if the player already has the maximum stack for that upgrade. For non-stacking upgrades such as Whiplash, possessing an elite to gain a second stack will have no effect.
  • As of version 0.3.11, enemy Steeltoes can spawn with Reload Coroutine. These "stealth" Elites will possess the default skin, and are not intended to spawn normally.
  • Enemy elites can also spawn with no upgrades but still be tagged as elites, awarding bonus points.
    • Due to a programming oversight, Aphid Elites with Laminar Outflow will also fall into this category and not have the Carbon skin.
