Yorikiri is a RAM upgrade.png Radical Upgrade, that improves the Deadlift icon.png Deadlift's secondary ability Chain.

Effects

  • Prevents the upgraded Deadlift icon.png Deadlift from taking knockback.
  • Improves the Chain, altering it such that the Deadlift icon.png Deadlift is not pulled towards enemies when reeling them in.
    • This upgrade allows you to pull enemies with the Grapple that are normally too heavy to be pulled, such as Yorikiri Deadlift icon.png Deadlift Elites and the Level1boss icon.png CPU.
    • This effect is applied by quintupling the mass of the upgraded Deadlift icon.png Deadlift, making it greatly outweigh other bots.

Tips

  • This upgrade is very powerful against the Level1boss icon.png CPU, as alongside doing decent damage, it allows you to reposition the CPU at will. This allows for certain advanced techniques such as repositioning the Level1boss icon.png CPU to avoid attacks(such as moving the CPU around you during its laser attack) and hitting the Level1boss icon.png CPU into pillars/enemies to destroy them.
  • If you swap into a launched Deadlift icon.png Deadlift, it will gain the 5x mass without slowing down, causing it to do significantly more damage.

Trivia

  • The Japanese romanized upgrade name, which translates to "Frontal force-out" in English, references an action in sumo wrestling by the same name in which one wrestler will win a match by pushing their opponent out of the ring while maintaining a constant grip on their mawashi(a belt worn during competition).
  • The decision to name the upgrade after a move in sumo wrestling is the result of the game director Andrew Cunningham having a great interest in art of sumo wrestling, which led to him listening to the 1996 album "Sumo Jungle GRANDEUR" by Soichi Terada.
  • Hassotobi.png Hassotobi is another upgrade named after a sumo wrestling move that modifies the properties of Deadlift icon.png Deadlift's chain ability. It is incompatible with Yorikiri, which is why they were represented with a Yin and Yang respectively before the art update.
  • It is possible to get both Yorikiri and Hassotobi.png Hassotobi under certain circumstances, such as by possessing an elite or through getting both simultaneously at the shop. This will result in the Deadlift icon.png Deadlift having the Hassotobi.png Hassotobi reverse-grapple effect (though it is much less dramatic) as well as the ability to pull and juggle large enemies.
  • Due to a bug, swapping out of Deadlift icon.png Deadlifts will keep the quintupled mass. This causes them to deal immense damage when used in grapple combos, among other effects.
