Maximizing the Fitness you get from each kill in RAM can help you strengthen your bot and shore up your global bar through the Shop, but this can be difficult, as both the Variety and Trickshot systems can seem daunting to new players, especially application and understanding of these systems.

Basic Information

RAM's encounters and floor generally average out to give the player enough for all upgrades on the stage and slightly more through the basic +50 points from killing, it's when combined with Variety and Trickshots that the player is able to make the most out of their points.

Variety

Variety is a multiplier applies to every point as the final step before it's added to your total, referring to the player's consistent ability to swap into different bots than inhabited previously. The game tracks the 4 most recent swaps, with your current swap being the latest. Variety only stays fresh for a short amount of time before it starts to decay back down to a standard 1x multiplier. Swapping is the only way to directly increase your variety, by swapping to unique bots.

Trickshots

Trickshots are a gameplay mechanic to enhance fitness gained on kill by fulfilling specific requirements. Some stack with other trickshots for a lower multiplier, some override all trickshots, proper utilization and implementation of trickshots into your playstyle will increase the amount of Fitness one can spend on extra upgrades at the Shop. There are currently 21 trickshots with their own multipliers and conditions:

Tips to Enhance Fitness

Variety

  • Although keeping track of the last 3 swaps can seem difficult when just starting out, at the very least keeping track of the very last swap you had and swapping into a unique bot (e.g., your last bot was Router, you're Aphid, swap into Steeltoe or Deadlift). will allow you to sustain a 1.2x multiplier; although not the maximum 1.4x multiplier this smaller one is still enough to help you afford an upgrade or two in the shop with any trickshots you obtain.

Trickshots

  • While playing stylishly can be difficult, a good way to implement trickshots into your playstyle is to start by trickshotting Elites. These enemies have upgrades and/or swap inhibitors, and they award bonus points when defeated, so trickshotting them is paramount. Certain elite enemies, such as the Ambush Steeltoe elite, can award over 8x as many points as a normal enemy, and this scales very well with trickshots.
  • TRICKSHOT: This trickshot can seem daunting to newer players, as it needs a sense of your damage and aim on other bots that may not be fully had by newer players, some minor tips to help get this trickshot:
    • Softening up enemies beforehand can allow you to have a greater chance to finish off enemies even if you don't get the maximum damage you intended or expected from your attacks.
    • Actions that freeze the screen, such as launching LIVE AMMO, firing a Nail Driver or simply holding the swap key can help facilitate the time to assess whether your current host will still kill the enemy even if you swap.
    • Powerful upgrades that basically guarantee kills such as the aimbot of a max Spin Control + Shaped Charges combo can simply be thrown out and let you kill enemies.
    • Delayed attacks, such as the explosion of a Router grenade or the continued fire of a recently-abandoned Aphid are useful because they give you plenty of time to swap away.
  • When looking for a new host with a Fitness-obtaining mindset instead of a survivability one, attempt to find bots nearby low health bots for QUICKDRAW.
  • Attempt to edge out as much health from your bot as possible before switching to get a free CLOSE CALL when you swap to a new host.
  • After clearing a room out of many targets, specifying the last few enemies for specific trickshots can help you gain a couple extra points. Some notable ones to use on a culled group:
    • MELEE'D : As a Steeltoe on smaller groups you can utilize your special to finish off targets as opposed to your shotgun for a nice 50% increase to the fitness from them.
      • Resonance can make this safer for you, stunning enemies you don't finish off and allowing you to reposition for their counterattacks.
    • DEFLECTED/HOT POTATO: If you're a Steeltoe, or more patiently, a Deadlift, utilizing your melee to deflect incoming projectiles from Routers and Steeltoes can double the amount of Fitness you can get from them.
    • COLLATERAL/ACCIDENTAL : If there are any Environmental Hazards in the room, trying to finish off the remaining enemies using the hazards is a quick and rewarding way to finish an encounter.
    • PAN-SEARED: By intentionally heating yourself up as Aphid, you can sear enemies with contact damage for double score.
    • REBOUND: If you are playing as Router or as Steeltoe with Ricochet Shells, consider attempting to ricochet your attacks off of walls for the final enemies.
  • LIVE AMMO/LIVE AMMO?: This is the standard trickshot Deadlift's get from killing enemies with both launched and juggled enemies, it's very useful for gathering extra points, especially with a 1.4x combo.
  • Even without multiple enemies or a destructible object to pierce through, if you bounce a Shaped Charges shot back into the same enemy you just hit via a rebound, you can get both SKEWERED and REBOUND, tripling the amount of points gained.
  • Obtaining AFT and corralling all the enemies to one area before self-destructing can lead to an extreme boost in Fitness, just make sure to have a bot to escape too if you don't want to waste your global bar.
  • Launching Explosive Barrels with Deadlift can allow you to farm up collatoral from the ensuing explosion, and the delayed nature of it can help you get a PROXY-TRICKSHOT.
  • If a Deadlift launches an enemy towards you, it creates an opportunity for trickshots:
    • CLOTHESLINE: Try to kill the bot being launched as soon as it is hit by the Deadlift.
    • HOME RUN / GRAND SLAM: If you have an attack that deflects projectiles(Deadlift jab, Resonance Hammer, etc.), deflecting the enemy can give you great point multipliers with little effort.
  • CANNONBALL: When playing as Deadlift, when you are picking swap targets, consider swapping to the enemy you launch for a CANNONBALL trickshot.
  • While BUTTERFLY has a very high score multiplier, it is not recommended to try and farm it as it is very unreliable.
